Vehicle Gimmick

Sometimes regular heroes and their badass gear just aren't enough. Sometimes, the boss is just too big, or just too aerial. Then it's time for the raid to hop aboard something (or someone) and defeat evil with a shiny new action bar. This is a Vehicle Gimmick.

The effectiveness of the raid's vehicles usually scales with gear score, regardless of how good that gear might be in the player's typical role. Players therefore equip items with the highest possible item level when the encounter starts and ends in vehicles.

Examples

• The Oculus
  • Although players ride dragons after the first boss is defeated, Ley-Guardian Eregos is engaged entirely aboard drakes.
• Eye of Eternity
  • During phase 3, the raid boards dragons to fight Malygos in the air.
    • This was previously complicated enough that Blizzard designed an entire daily quest just to practice this part of the fight - Aces High's dragons are exactly like the ones in the encounter.'
• Ulduar
  • Flame Leviathan, for the entire encounter.
• Icecrown Citadel
  • Gunship Battle has deck guns which are operated to take out the opposing faction's ship. Most of the raid fights normally.
