A holocloud is a special type of microbot swarm (see GURPS Ultra-Tech, p. XX). Only aerostat swarms can use this chassis type. Holoclouds are a TL10 swarm chassis.

Holocloud microbots are capable of linking together and repainting their shells, allowing them to resemble people, devices, or other macroscale objects. They aren’t capable of perfect imitation, but they are useful for mobile image projection in settings where free-floating holograms aren’t technically possible. Aside from their camouflage ability, they also include tiny sound transmitters and can approximate any sound as loud as human conversation.

Holoclouds do not have surveillance capabilities. They are used when the swarm does not need to interact meaningfully with its environment, or when the swarm is stacked with a Surveillance Swarm (see GURPS Ultra-Tech, p. XX). In these cases, the swarm is capable of monitoring its environment and responding to it.

Controlling a holocloud requires a Complexity 4 program. Holoclouds linked to artificial intelligences or mind emulations can create a ghostly body the intelligence can use to interact with people.
