The Handmaid's Tale

I was rounded up at night and put on board a bus. Jet Li was driving.

We traveled for a long time.  We weren't confined as such but all of us on board had no chance to escape.

We arrived at this massive cavernous complex dug into the mountains of Colorado.  The bus arrived at a modern underground facility.  A parking lot and handling facilities were there.  We were unloaded and directed to private quarters inside.  It was the nicest prison I'd ever seen.

Patrick Stewart was doing a voiceover narration on the PA, advocating this new system that had been put in place.  Other buses were arriving.  I realized that whoever had done all this was taking over America, and had done so with the help of the rich and powerful.

I found myself in a replica of my old room, complete with computer desk, but very little that could be dangerous or let me escape.  I fashioned a weapon and hid it away for later.

They had offices, and security was everpresent but there were few actual guards - unless you stood out, in which case one would appear.

At one point a large L-shaped rugby field had a hole broken out of the barrier wall that separated it from the holding facility.  I quickly ducked in through the hole, and finding a gnarled traveler's staff inside, I picked it up and took it with me.

I met my mother there briefly, before heading up an elevator into some other offices.  The nature of the place had somehow become clear to me.  We humans were to be bred in captivity.

I met an old girlfriend upstairs in one of the rooms, along with Ming the Merciless (who followed me into her room).  She had apparently accepted the system.  She made a comment about "it's better for guys to run a couple girls at once than to get exhausted with a bunch of them" - apparently the inmates of this facility had already started to make some adjustments to their captivity and the rules.
